Excerpts from Abdul Ilah Abdul Qadir's 'The Sharjah National Theater in Two Decades'
(During the early seventies) Mohammed Yousuf, one of the founders of the Sharjah National Theater, was a young man dreaming of a beautiful motherland ornate with paintings, immortal symphonies and a theater with dancing curtains. He was one of the first students to decide to study fine arts, and he left for Egypt, the artistic capital of the Arab World…Twenty-Two year old Mohammed Yousuf was torn between studies in Cairo and the events taking place in his motherland. In fact he kept up with all the fast changes that were occurring in the UAE. It was a state of one in love with his country and capable of handling the massive transformation taking place in a land that had remained unchanged for so long.
